If you love the smooth gliding motion of gliders, you will find an enormous choice of models quite bewildering. There are wooden gliders, bamboo gliders, metal gliders, gliders made of recycled plastic, wicker gliders and gliders made of combination of several materials. If you love wooden gliders, you still have way too many options: wooden gliders made of treated pine, of teak, cypress, oak and just about any type of lumber in existence. Your choice of wooden gliders will be limited by the amount of money you want to spend and by the space where you want to keep it. Covered porches and patios are good for any type of material, even more fragile ones such as pine. Teak and cypress wooden gliders can be easily left in the garden since they will survive even the worst rains without any damage. The care for your wooden gliders will depend on the type of wood. Pine gliders should be painted to be protected from warping and splintering. Hardwoods like teak or cypress should be oiled regularly, to replenish their natural oils, but avoid painting them. Their natural wood grain should be allowed to shine in their full glory. Not interested in a wood? Then consider an alternate material option.
