Outdoor Glider Benches | The Porch Swing Company

Choosing an outdoor glider bench starts with understanding how it will fit into everyday porch life. Unlike a stationary bench, a glider needs room for its moving seat as well as space for people to approach and sit down. Measure the intended spot, review the product’s overall dimensions and clearance guidance, and account for nearby doors, railings, and tables. Leave a clear route between the house and the rest of the porch, especially where guests will carry drinks or gather after a meal. Beyond the footprint, compare seat height, back shape, and arm placement. These details help you narrow the choices according to how you prefer to sit, whether you enjoy an upright conversation spot or a more laid-back place to read. Material and finish help determine both the look of a porch glider and its care routine. Wood can complement a cabin’s natural textures, while recycled-plastic designs offer a different material and finish palette to consider. Check each bench’s care instructions, finish details, and guidance for outdoor exposure rather than assuming every outdoor material needs the same upkeep. For a vacation rental, think about how cleaning and periodic maintenance will fit between stays. Then consider the view from the seat: facing the garden, surrounding landscape, or other seating can make the glider feel like an intentional gathering place. Position nearby tables beyond its moving path so there is somewhere to set a book or coffee cup without crowding the bench.
